CPVA MEETING MINUTES
MINUTES APPROVED
- Attendance: Holly Steinke - WCSC, Dawn Naquin, Allyson Pardee, Kay McIver, James Simmons, Nicole Brotherton, Ross Brigger, Dick Judge, Zoran Minevski, Marina Medina, Wade Malone Meeting called to order at 7:34 p.m. by Kay McIver A Motion to approve Minutes from September 9, 2002 meeting was made, seconded and voted unanimously. Village Liasion's Report given by Holly Steinke (see attached agenda dated 10/21/02). Dick Judge, a representative for the Montgomery County Libraries made an appeal for voters to get out and vote favorably in the November 5th Library Bond Issue. He spoke of The Woodlands Library expansion and a phased program to increase the number of libraries in Montgomery County by 5 over the next 10 years. He said the Summer Reading Program was unable to meet the needs of the county and some had to be turned away due to the lack of space. Mr Judge held a Q and A session for the residents. Q: Ross Brigger, How long will it take to pay for the Libraries and improvements? A: Dick Judge, With the present number of residents, approximately 20 years. Of course, as the area grows this could decrease. Of the total $10 Million Initial Bond Program taxpayers will incur about $10.00 for every $100,000.00 assessed home value. Long range 3 new libraries will cost about $14-15 Million. Of course all paid by taxpayers. Kay McIver gave a brief Population Report for College Park (Harper's Landing). As of October we now have 502 occupied homes & 1419 residents. College Park now qualifies for a Class A Director as a member of the TWA Board and will be on the February 2003 ballot. After a brief introduction, Karen Booren gave an update on the Fall Flea Market and spoke on the events surrounding "First Night In The Woodlands". On December 31st from 2-5 p.m. Marriot Hotel will be holding an Open House. The festivities will include Jazz, Irish Dancing, Cheerleading, etc. The event is focused on a younger audience and is aimed with families in mind. There will be a children's tent complete with face painting, hands-on crafts, etc. At approximately 11:30 p.m the crowd will start down to the Waterway to watch the Fireworks and ring in the New Year. Some of the villages are having booths and holding events such as funny hats, puppet shows and the like. The upper deck of the the pavilion should be finished in time for the event. Holly Steinke spoke on the recent car burglaries. She encouraged all residents to lock their cars and said that the majority of the crimes were on unlocked vehicles. She said a Watch Report was sent out concerning "resident responsibility" and to keep a watchful eye out for crime. Resident concerns/Issues: One resident had concerns with the trucks blocking Trade Center Parkway. Holly Steinke confirmed that several residents had complained and the Trucking firm had been put on notice. She suggested to keep the reports coming into the sheriff's office. Action will definitely be taken. 8:34 - Meeting adjourned
