  • Treasurer’s Report - Nicole Brotherton - Ending balance as of 12/31/02 was $2544.01. This balance reflects a slight surplus from the 2002 Budget year due in part to the cancellation of the Fall Spooktacular budgeted at $500.00 and a reserve carryover of $600.00 for the Scholarship Fund. There were no valid applicants for the 2 $300.00 scholarships. Only one application was received in 2002 and the person applying was not a College Park Village resident.
  • The Lighting Contest winners were: Susan & David Hannum for Best Home and Terrell Trail for Best Neighborhood. Awards were presented via the Needham Rd. Fire Department’s Engine #61 carrying four of the village judges on December 18, 2002 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
  • Willie reminded everyone to vote in the upcoming Village Elections. 2003 elective positions are as follows: (1) Class A Director, President, Secretary, (5) Area Representatives and (5) Members for the RDRC. Convenience voting runs 02/03/03 thru 02/14/03 with Election Day on 2/15/03. Convenience voting will be held at 2201 Lake Woodlands Dr (The Community Associations Building) each day Monday thru Friday. Polls are open from 9 to 5 p.m. each day except Thursday 9 to 8 p.m.
  • Willie announced that The Joint Governance Committee had their first meeting last month. Within the next year, they plan to develop a process that leads to a community consensus on the future of local governance for The Woodlands. The purpose of this committee is not to set policy or make recommendation regarding governance, but to establish a process that will do this.
  • Orientation Sessions are scheduled as follows: New Directors, February 24, 2003 at 6:00 p.m., Board Room WCSC, Village Association, January 21,2003 at 6:00 p.m., East/West Conference Room.
  • A motion was made and seconded to use $50 to purchase reminder signs for Election Day. The signs would direct people to the correct polling place: Needham Road Fire Dept. A unanimous decision to purchase these signs carried and Kay McIver and Ron Schultz will check with sign companies for the best price, etc.
  • In discussing plans for the New Year, Willie encouraged all who could to participate in the Spring Flea Market, April 12, 2003. Earth Day participation is also encouraged and Holly has flyers on the event. Earth Day is scheduled for April 5, 2003.
